We decided to go to the Louwman Museum on a lark. We were both feeling a bit crabby and the weather was not cooperating with the outdoor activities we had planned, so I turned to Google to find us something neat to do within an hour's train ride. I stumbled across the Louwman Museum, a beautiful building in suburban Den Haag (The Hague) housing the oldest and one of the most impressive private car collections in the world.
I'm not a car person, nor a history person, but this 200+ car collection is fabulous. We expected just a warehouse of cars, but found a really thoughtful curation and display of the development, marketing and celebrity of the automobile. We definitely didn't plan enough time to see everything. We felt we almost had the place to ourselves, aside from a handful of enthusiasts, and the entire museum was made for being appreciated and photographed.
